in general warding is just about logic - and money of course. warding the key positions where enemies can get to you (like river slopes, tri-bush) and important subjectives like buffs is a good idea. Some enemies are hard to ward for though. panth, shen, twisted, nocturne, rammus, rengar for example. still put some wards, no need to make it too easy for them. and hope your teammates say ss when they leave in your direction
just be warding everything in the world.
There isn't an "if" you can afford it. It's like
3 minions per ward. And everybody on your team--
not just the support--should be jungling.
Wards win the crap out of games.
just joking, I know how to play. but in 90% of all games just the support wards and maybe top wards the river. guess about 70% of the players don't get the basic concepts of the game. sad but true.
